The Browning School is a K-12 boys school located on East 62nd Street (Lower and Middle Schools) and East 64th Street (Upper School) in midtown Manhattan, New York. Founded by scholar and teacher John A. Browning, The Browning School has been a leader in fostering the intellectual and personal growth of boys and young men since 1888. POSITION DESCRIPTION
Browning is searching for a full-time Assistant Director of Admission, K–12 for the 2026–2027 academic year. The position will begin on July 1, 2026. The expected annual salary range for this position is $80,000-$95,000, commensurate with experience. A bachelor’s degree or considerable experience in the role is required. An advanced degree in a related field, as well as teaching experience, is preferred. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.
Key Responsibilities
The Assistant Director of Admission reports to the Director of Admission and is a key member of the admission team and a visible ambassador for the School. Working closely with colleagues across divisions, the Assistant Director guides prospective families through the admission process while representing Browning’s mission, values, and educational philosophy with clarity and warmth. The role requires a strong understanding of the School’s program and a commitment to building meaningful relationships with families and community partners.
- Conduct K–12 admission interviews, including playgroups, student visits, and parent conversations, and guide families through the process with clear and timely communication
- Read and evaluate K–12 application files and participate in committee deliberations that inform admission decisions
- Work closely with faculty and divisional colleagues to understand and communicate Browning’s academic program and student experience to prospective families
- Manage the admission database (Ravenna) and related systems, ensuring accurate applicant records and timely communication with families
- Plan and execute recruitment events, including tours, open houses, receptions, and yield programming
- Lead the Family Ambassador Network (FAN), supporting parent ambassadors and fostering connections with prospective families
- Represent Browning at school fairs, outreach events, and visits with sending schools and community organizations
- Collaborate with the Communications Office on recruitment materials, digital outreach, photography, and drip-marketing communications
Support outreach initiatives and other priorities of the admission office - Perform other duties as assigned in support of the admission office and the School’s enrollment efforts

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; experience in independent school admission, teaching, or a related field preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Comfort working with databases and enrollment systems such as Ravenna and Veracross
