POSITION DESCRIPTION
Browning is searching for an Upper School French teacher for a one month leave from October 26 - November 20, 2026. The expected salary for this position is $7,000. A bachelor’s degree or considerable experience in the role is required, while an advanced degree in a related field is preferred. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.
Key Responsibilities
Upper School French teachers are responsible for creating effective opportunities for language-acquisition, striving to further each student’s proficiency in each of the language arts: listening, speaking, reading, writing. Developing a foundation of francophonic cultural knowledge and empathy is also a major emphasis. All Browning teachers are responsible for building strong relationships with students and delivering the content and curriculum of the Browning program. Successful teachers believe in and desire the growth of all their students and have a passion for their subject matter and for the art, craft, and science of pedagogy. Ultimately, teachers are responsible for the most important work of our School -- knowing our boys and teaching them well.
Among other things, they are tasked with:
- Teaching French in Grades Nine to Twelve.
- Implementing and adjusting an existing curriculum in conjunction with the French teacher and the World Language Department Chair.
- Advising a group of Grade 12 students.
- Participating in World Language Department meetings.
- Using Browning’s Target-Focused Teaching and studentship methods to ensure student growth and alignment.
- Creating strong relationships with students built on Browning’s core values of honesty, dignity, curiosity, and purpose.
- Collaborating as a professional, collegial, and inspirational member of the department.
- Communicating with families about curricular and student matters.
- Implementing supervisory duties as assigned, such as lunch or study hall coverage.
- Heartily contributing to the school community.
